IN MEMORY AND HONOUR OF VERCINGETORIX

Vercingetorix surrenders, this is the moment France lost her Indigenous Sovereignty to the Roman Empire. In an act of truly selfless sacrifice Vercingetorix surrenders himself to Julius Caesar so that the remainder of his people would be spared. By this time, Julius Caesar had massacred over 1.2 million Gauls, French Indigenous people, Celtic Warriors. To this day, Vercingetorix is remembered and honoured, as a hero and legend, by the ancestors of the Gauls living today, as the beautiful statue above bears witness to.

Similar to the British people, the French people are still recovering from the decimation of their Indigenous culture, by the Roman Empire, which has been and continues to be devastating in so many ways. Piece by piece this heritage is being put back together through painstaking dedication and research. In the video below, more than 2,000 years after Vercingetorix, this can be felt as a team of young French archeologists uncovers their own true heritage. In their voices of surprise and wonder is all the pain of their ancestors in losing their Indigenous Sovereignty and all their joy in rediscovering it once more.
