Sovereignty Statements

tdah-kawk-nish yahts-tsook | We walk in truth

The purpose of Sovereignty Statements is to help persuade the Canadian Government and all Canadians to recognize and uphold Indigenous Sovereignty, with honour.

Welcome to Sovereignty Statements, a collaborative project between Indigenous Peoples and Canadian Settlers focussed on real reconciliation and walking in truth. This project is committed to an uncompromising belief in both Indigenous Sovereignty and Canadian Sovereignty. The project honours the two row wampum and is excited about creating a new journey together. The project is not a part of any political or Government organization, it is loyal only to the truth, which it honours by working together in understanding and love.

RCMP denial of Indigenous Sovereignty. This is a clear example of the racism that RCMP Commissioner Paulson has identified as existing within the RCMP and that has no place in the Police force. The Burnaby RCMP is seen here denying Sovereignty to a disabled Indigenous Elder, assaulting him and then illegally arresting him. The Corporal on duty, instead of intervening to stop this racism and injustice, chooses to facilitate and support it. More info here on how to STOP POLICE BRUTALITY.
